Poker For Beginners: Have you ever wanted to sit in on a poker game with your family or friends, but felt a little intimidated by the jargon and the chaos? Your course fee will cover some beer, peanuts, and poker chips of your own to take home, along with an entry fee into a post-lesson poker game where the winner takes home big bucks! RSVP today! Garage Band 101: Do you like music? Of course you do. When was the last time you heard somebody say, "You know, I really don't like music very much at all."? Exactly. This workshop will cover the basics of Garage Band, a music-making program that comes pre-installed on your Apple computer. We will explore Garage Band's many MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) instruments, loops, and corresponding plug-ins (effects)--all crucial components in the electronic music making process. We will also learn how to record vocal or instrument tracks of our own. Students will make their own songs, either individually or in small groups, and will leave with a solid foundation of Apple's digital audio workshops, upon which they might build in the future. Apple computer and headphones required. RSVP required. Click here to RSVP for this workshop.

Container Gardening 101: This workshop will cover the basics of container gardening: selecting the appropriate plants for your gardening site and lifestyle, transferring plants into pots, and ongoing care and feeding of potted plants. We will discuss ornamental houseplants as well as edible vegetables and herbs that grow well in containers. Students will select, transplant, and take home their very own plant from this workshop. Coptic Stitch Bookbinding: This workshop will cover the basics of coptic stitch bookbinding, and participants will use those skills to create a journal/sketchbook. Besides the beauty of the exposed stitching in this bookbinding practice, the open spine design of the coptic stitch method produces a book that will lie completely flat when open, making it ideal for sketching and notetaking. Though we will make blank books in this session, participants will also leave with ideas for making their own chapbooks. RSVP required. Click here to RSVP for this workshop.
- Date: Wednesday, July 10 2013
- Time: 7pm

Intro to Home Brewing, or Beer, the Home Game! This workshop will be an introduction to brewing beer in your own kitchen. We will go over the equipment, techniques and ingredients involved in the home brewing process. We will use a brewing kit to make an extract-based beer recipe, since this is the path that most beginner home brewers will follow. As the most vital component of home brewing is to have cold beer on hand to act as inspiration, the fee for the class will be a sample of your favorite brew (six pack, growler, 22oz bottle) to share with the class. Once the class’ batch of beer is fermented and bottled (about a month), it will be split among the attendees. RSVP required. Click here to RSVP for this workshop.
- Date: Sunday, July 14 2013
- Time: 12pm (noon)
- Fee: Bring your favorite brew to share with the class (six pack, growler, 22oz bottle, etc).
Introduction to Crochet: Come learn to crochet! Or, if you already know how to crochet, come to start a new project or learn a new stitch. We will start out practicing a few key stitches and learning basic techniques for corners, spirals, and rows. Then, each participant can choose from a selection of fabulous projects to begin and take home! Also, there will be wine! And children! And cookies! Come on down. RSVP required.
